Marvin R. O'Koon

Marvin O'Koon began his legal career in 1972 after graduating from the University of Louisville Law School. He concentrates his practice in Business Litigation, Business Formation, Personal Injury Litigation and is the co-manager of the Firm.

Mr. O'Koon has represented clients in state and federal courts and has appeared in courts throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He is the founding partner of the Firm and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to starting the firm in 1990, Mr. O'Koon held various positions including General Counsel to the Kentucky Department for Human Resources, Assistant Jefferson County Attorney, Chief Prosecutor in Juvenile Court and appointed to the Kentucky Attorney Generals Ad-Hoc Committee on Court Reform. In addition to his professional pursuits, he has volunteered and served on various community and charitable committees and projects and is the past chairman of the Republic Bank Golf Challenge.

Jonathan Boggs is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law. Licensed to practice in Kentucky, Illinois,

Jeffrey Freeman

Jeffrey Freeman joined O'Koon Hintermeister in 2011 after fourteen years of practice with the Civil Division of the Jefferson County Attorney's Office. He is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law and his career has focused on civil litigation with a particular interest in personal injury, civil rights, and employment law. He has also handled business and contract disputes as well as municipal and governmental issues. He served as a clerk in the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and has authored several articles on tort law and procedure. Jeff is licensed in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois and he has appeared in both state and federal courts throughout the Midwest at both a trial court and appellate court level.

Jeff is married and the father of four adult children and two mastiff mix dogs. He enjoys hiking, racquetball and chess.


Lisa Garry

Prior to attending law school, Lisa worked for 8 years as a paralegal while she completed her undergraduate studies. Since graduating law school in 1998, Lisa's practice has focused primarily in the areas of complex commercial property acquisitions and sales and related property management, litigation and development issues; landlord-tenant law for both commercial and residential properties; general real estate law, including reviewing and drafting purchase contracts, deeds, leases and lease amendments; business law and formation; income tax law, including offer in compromise; family law; and civil litigation. Lisa joined O'Koon Hintermeister in April 2013 and has since expanded her practice into the areas of employment law, collections, and consumer finance.

Lisa is happily married and enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She is also an advocate for animal rescue and adoption, and she donates her time, talent and treasure to several local rescue organizations.

James Geiger

Jamie Geiger, recognized in the 2011 Super Lawyers magazine as a "Rising Star" - one of Indiana's most outstanding young lawyers - is now a seasoned attorney with over 14 years of experience in all facets of litigation including trial and appeal. He has represented clients in Small Claims Court, Circuit Court, Superior Court, the Court of Appeals of Indiana and Federal District Court.

In his career, Mr. Geiger has represented clients in both civil and criminal matters, and has assisted individuals through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies, helping them to discharge over $1 million in consumer debt. He also has experience litigating personal injury claims, trust beneficiary claims, multi-state class actions, landlord/tenant claims for individuals and companies, bankruptcy related litigation and Fair Credit Reporting Act cases. Mr. Geiger now focuses his practice mainly on family law, divorce and civil litigation.

Rick Metzger

Rick Metzger is an attorney in the Indianapolis office. Rick primarily focuses his practice on general civil litigation. He has extensive courtroom experience and regularly counsels clients regarding contract disputes, residential and commercial landlord/tenant issues, defense against criminal and driving-related charges, and family law matters.

Rick received his bachelor of science in pre-professional studies with a concentration in biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame and a master of science in organizational behavior from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then worked as a human resources manager for five years before entering law school. Rick obtained his juris doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law, cum laude in 2000, where he served as technical editor of the Law Review. Rick was admitted to practice in Indiana in 2000. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney in St. Joseph County for two years and has since been in private practice in the Indianapolis area.

Anne W. Miller

Anne W. Miller is the Supervising Attorney at O'Koon Hintermeister and has worked for the firm since 2002. She handles the civil defense litigation cases and will preparation for the office.

Other areas of practice include employment law, family law, consumer finance, and collections. Prior to working at O'Koon Hintermeister, Anne worked as a staff attorney for a Fayette County Circuit Court Judge, served as a public defender, and worked in a private firm in the insurance defense litigation department. She is active in the community and has served on the board of the Heuser Hearing Institute and as president of the Younger Woman's Club of Louisville.

Ted Palmer

Ted Palmer maintains a diverse professional background. He has practiced is several areas of law in a variety of courts in Louisville and the surrounding area, and has enjoyed teaching at the university level. Joel Thorp

Joel W. Thorp practices primarily in the areas of general business and transactions, as well as estate planning. Mr. Thorp has considerable experience advising small businesses and their principals throughout the business life cycle from formation to transactions to succession planning. He also handles a high volume of estate planning matters from the routine to complex, striving for efficiency and simplicity wherever possible to achieve a client's goals.

Mr. Thorp received his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2004 where he also received a Law & Business Certificate of Specialization in coordination with the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. He graduated from Wheaton College in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and theology. He has maintained this dual interest in law and ministry, initially working with a large Indianapolis law firm before being invited to join the ministry staff at his church for two years and then returning to the practice of law with O'Koon Hintermeister. In his daily practice, Mr. Thorp most appreciates the opportunity to use both his interest in serving others and his legal expertise to assist clients.
